Housed in a lovely log home overlooking Adolphus Reach, the Red Roof Gallery features watercolours by award-winning artist and teacher Ron Pickering. "Prince Edward County provides a treasure trove of subjects," says Ron, who captures the region in his unique style. "My approach to watercolour is somewhat more controlled than more traditional work in the medium. Less wet-on-wet technique is used and deep colours are achieved by applying multiple layers of transparent washes. I am looking for a sense of realism with textures and contrasts. My paintings are a form of preservation and I hope they evoke pleasant memories."
Hours: 11am-5pm, Thu. to Sun., Apr. 1 to Dec. 1; other times by chance or by appointment.
